Holiday meals feel even more special when the centerpiece carries both comfort and a touch of creativity, and the Orange and Pepper Jelly Glazed Double Smoked Ham delivers that spirit beautifully. Whether preparing a standout dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter, this recipe blends seasonal warmth with outdoor cooking, inviting everyone to slow down and savor the moment. The rich smoke, bright citrus, and gentle heat create a holiday ham that shines without adding stress to your day.
Seasonal cooking often comes down to choosing recipes that make the most of the outdoor equipment you already trust. Preparing this ham outside frees up precious indoor space, keeps the kitchen calm, and adds depth to a dish many families already love. The double-smoking technique deepens the flavor without requiring advanced skill; steady heat does most of the work while the glaze ties everything together. Orange zest and sweet pepper jelly form a glossy, fragrant coating that caramelizes as the ham warms through, giving each slice a balance of sweet fruit, gentle spice, and smoke.
Holiday meals can feel overwhelming, but this recipe helps keep the day moving smoothly. The prep stays straightforward, the cooking time is predictable, and the flavors suit any menu built around cozy, seasonal favorites. Outdoor cooking also gives everyone a chance to enjoy the crisp air while the ham turns golden, filling the backyard with aroma and anticipation.
Hosting feels easier when a dish like this anchors the table. Serve it carved thick or thin, alongside classic sides or new seasonal additions, and let the crisp glaze and juicy texture do the talking. The result is a centerpiece that looks impressive, tastes even better, and brings welcome ease to your holiday menu.

Serves 4-6
Orange and Pepper Jelly Glazed Double Smoked Ham Ingredients
- 1 cup orange preserves
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 3 tbsp. pepper jelly
- 1 tbsp. Creole mustard
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 boneless smoked ham (approximately 2 lbs.)
Orange and Pepper Jelly Glazed Double Smoked Ham Directions
- Combine orange preserves, brown sugar, pepper jelly, mustard, and soy sauce in a small bowl to create the glaze. Set the glaze aside until ready to use.
- Prepare the grill for indirect cooking, placing an aluminum pan filled with water in the center of the lower grate and adding preheated charcoal on either side of the pan. Add 3-4 chunks of your favorite smoking wood to the charcoal.
- Close grill vents halfway and heat to approximately 250 degrees. As the grill heats, score the ham in a ¼-inch-deep diamond pattern using a paring knife. Place the ham on the main grilling grate directly above the aluminum pan and cover the grill. Allow the ham to cook for approximately 45 minutes, until the thickest part reaches an internal temperature of 155 degrees.
- Brush the ham with the orange and pepper jelly glaze, cover the grill, and allow the glaze to set for 5 minutes. Apply a second coat of glaze to the ham, then cook for another 5-10 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees.
- Remove the ham from the grill and rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
