Orange-Ginger Pork Chops

Bring a touch of fall flavor to your grill with Orange-Ginger Pork Chops—a perfect mix of sweet citrus and warm spice that feels right at home on cool autumn evenings....

Cool evenings deserve flavors that feel alive and comforting all at once. Orange-Ginger Pork Chops capture that balance beautifully, blending bright citrus with the warmth of ginger for a dish that feels right at home on a crisp autumn night. This recipe combines the rich pork flavor with a glaze that's equal parts tangy and aromatic, making it ideal for fall grilling or relaxed outdoor dinners.

Each bite captures the season’s contrast—crisp air, warm fire, and the subtle sweetness of autumn fruit. The zesty orange pairs beautifully with fresh ginger, giving the chops a lively flavor that complements roasted vegetables or grilled apples on the side. As the glaze caramelizes over the heat, it creates a glossy finish and a hint of smokiness that only an open flame can provide.

Cooking outdoors during fall doesn’t mean giving up comfort—it means savoring it in a different way. With shorter days and golden sunsets, this dish is the perfect reason to light up the grill and enjoy the transition of the season from your own backyard. Whether serving guests or enjoying a quiet evening meal, Orange-Ginger Pork Chops bring warmth, simplicity, and flavor to your outdoor table.

Serves 4

Orange-Ginger Pork Chops Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger or 4 teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sherry
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 3/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 4 bone-in pork loin chops (6 ounces each)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Orange-Ginger Pork Chops Directions

  1. In a saucepan, cook ginger and garlic in oil for 1 minute; remove from the heat.
  2. Stir in the sherry, honey, soy sauce, sesame seeds, orange peel, and hot pepper sauce; mix well. Pour 1/2 cup into a small bowl; set aside.
  3. Pour the remaining marinade into a large resealable plastic bag; add the pork chops. Seal the bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Meanwhile, combine cornstarch and water in a saucepan until smooth; add the reserved marinade. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened.
  5. Drain and discard the marinade from the pork. Coat the grill rack with nonstick cooking spray before starting the grill. Grill chops, covered, over medium heat for four minutes.
  6. Turn and baste with sauce. Grill 15 to 20 minutes longer or until the juices run clear, basting occasionally. Serve with any remaining sauce.
